Alan Franzi
Over the last 23 years I have served clients as a counselor, Yoga teacher in the New Haven and Shoreline area of Connecticut. My personal and professional path has evolved over the years with the core intention of helping people move from difficult circumstances and unhealthful patterns of living toward realizing the potential of their lives. My journey continues to take me and my clients down paths I couldn't have imagined when I began. The joys and challenges inherent in what I do is in sharing what I have gained in ways that help my clients attain their goals.
Over the years I have formally studied a number of Yogic and therapeutic approaches. These include certificate trainings in Sivananda Yoga, Kundalini Yoga, Integrative Yoga Therapy and Gestalt Psychotherapy. I am also a Certified Posture Alignment Specialist, trained by the Egoscue Clinic. My practice also draws on my continuing advanced study and practice of Kripalu and Vinyasa Yoga styles, Mindfulness Meditation and Stress Management Techniques
My path to Egoscue and my practice of the Method began as has many others. In 2003, after leaving the job I was holding to devote myself to teach Yoga fulltime, the physical difficulties that led me to The Method began to surface. Annoying hip pain persisted and worsened, leading me to a diagnosis of degenerative hip disease. After some searching and a lot of frustration and negative feedback from traditional modes of help, I was led to “Pain Free” and the Method. Immediately Pete Egoscue’s message and paradigm resonated deeply with me. I felt confident that finally I now had the missing piece to understand and overcome the limits I was confronting with the traditional medical and symptom oriented holistic approaches I had explored. Of course, the results are what matters most and the Method brought me immediate control over a good deal of my symptoms and remains the foundation of my work toward full recovery.
As my trust and belief in the method deepened I was excited to begin to share the Method with my students. Within months I began the formal training practice that continues to this day. The proportion of my practice that consists of Individual Posture Therapy is growing and the results attained by my clients reinforces my enthusiasm daily.
I have enjoyed the challenge of introducing the Egoscue paradigm to my students and clients over the years. For so many it has become a main part of their arsenal to support them as they continue to work and play at what they love throughout their lives.
