Rebecca Rovay-Hazelton
Hi, I'm Rebecca Rovay-Hazelton, Functional Nutrition and Wellness Consultant and author of Choosing Health: A One-Size-Doesn't-Fit-All Guide To Diet, Exercise & Motivation.
I've been in the fitness industry since 2001 and am loving every minute of it! Dance and fitness have always played a huge part in my life.
I graduated in March 2000 from UCSC with a double major in Psychology and Psychotherapeutic Dance. My education really gave me an understanding of the factors influencing motivation, stress, and mental/emotional health. I believe that well-being is profoundly affected by physical health - you can’t have one without the other.
In 2001, I became an ACE® Certified Personal Trainer and Lifestyle & Weight Management Consultant and started working at a local gym in Santa Cruz called Toadal Fitness. The clientele at Toadal is so diverse that I got to work with so many different bodies, ages and goals (I even got to try my hat as a teen hip-hop instructor). I quickly learned that there are many people in the world in pain and with physical limitations. One of my personal training clients turned me onto Egoscue. Having struggled with my own set of physical challenges ever since a gymnastics injury in 6th grade, I was eager to give it a try and got great results. I know that I am preaching to the choir when I say that the Egoscue approach to improving body mechanics is unsurpassed. I am so happy to be a PAS-1 and look forward to furthering my education after I have my first baby in September.
My other passion is nutrition. I've been a Licensed CN (Certified Nutritionist) since 2004. My nutrition specialty is Metabolic Typing® and I have been a Certified Metabolic Typing® Advisor since September 2008. The link between health and disease and what we eat is unquestionably related. I provide people with the education and support they need to make better food choices and lead healthier lives. It was a real pleasure to speak at the Human Event in 2009 about Metabolic Typing® having dubbed it the Egoscue of nutrition. ;)
Lastly, after almost 5 years of hard work, I am so pleased to share the announcement with all of you that my book, Choosing Health: A One-Size-Doesn't-Fit-All Guide To Diet, Exercise & Motivation is published!!! Please visit www.choosinghealthnow.com/the-book and pick up a copy. It is full of tips to help get oneself in the right mind-set to make lifestyle changes and then follows through with specific dietary, fitness, and postural guidance; a maintenance plan; and sample menus and recipes.
It is great to be part of such a dynamic group. I wish you all continued health and success. Happy summer everyone! |
