Anne WestAnne West
Like many other Egoscue Specialist my story starts with my own personal pain. In 1999 I was in a major car accident and was diagnosed with a "SI hip joint dysfunction". I was told by my doctors to give up the sports and activities that I enjoyed in my life. Basically, they said there was nothing we can do for you. Needless to say, I chose not to accept those words and did not want to give up on my life and what I enjoyed. So, I did like many and tried everything...traditional therapy, acupuncture, chiropractors and the list goes on. For the 10 years that followed my car accident, I lived with almost constant hip/back pain. I tried to hang on to my sports and maintain my physical life. All along looking for answers on how to control or treat my pain. I believe I was given a gift from above in 2009. The gift was discovering the Egoscue Method. As I started to apply the method to my own body, I started to notice change. It was not instantaneous but, I realized that if I did the menus I felt better. I started to feel sensations and begun to move like I had never moved before. I started to understand and listen to what my body was telling me for the first time in my life.

At the time I discovered Egoscue I had worked as an Architect, Designer and Project Manager for over 10 years. I remember going into the office one day and sharing with my co-workers about Egoscue and how it was working to change my body. I had never felt more excitement or passion about any one thing in a long time. My friends and co-workers all started to say the same thing to me. Basically, “Anne why don’t you become a Specialist?” Everyone around me knew it before I knew it! I like many hung onto my identity as an Architect and could not see at the time that there was a different calling coming for me. The truth of the matter was I was burnt out in my career. I was not happy at work or fulfilled with where my career was heading. I will never forget the day that it dawned on me that it was time for me to take a leap of faith into a new career as an Egoscue Specialist.

I decided to follow my heart and spirit and became an Egoscue Specialist. My heart’s desire is to help others discover there is a way out of physical pain and to help others realize their unique potential to live their life to the fullest...pain free and functional. Currently, I am working on building my business. I have two separate ventures. I have a studio out of my home and operate under the business name Rediscover Moving www.rediscovermoving.com. In addition to my personal business, I work at a Fitness Center within a Community Center in the Twin Cities. I have the privilege of working with another Egoscue Specialist and together we are working to grow Egoscue within the Community Center. On a personal note, I am happy to report that I have been pain free in my left hip for over a year. I even completed a 10K with no pain and have moved to barefoot running in the last couple months. I wonder what my doctors would say now about my "SI hip joint dysfunction?"
